Therapeutic Approach

Dr. Bailey has developed a unique and eclectic approach to psychotherapy over his 20 years in private practice. Understanding that patients are looking for immediate results, his interventions utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which focuses on concrete and visible behaviors and “homework.”  At the same time, Dr. Bailey respects and values the role of childhood experiences and family-of-origin in personality development and its effect on current functioning. By approaching his patients with a Family Systems orientation, he helps patients understand their place within the context of their family and how those early experiences influence their choices and their outlook on life, relationships and their own power to affect change in their lives.

This eclectic approach allows Dr. Bailey’s patients to understand the role of the unconscious and the role of social experiences on their current functioning, while also giving them practical and useful interventions that allow for immediate and tangible results.
